1. Act like a friend: Most social media, like Facebook and Twitter, were originally conceived as ways for friends to communicate. They have evolved now, but we should keep in mind why they were created and why people go on them. No one goes on there to find out about your latest widget or special offer, so don’t ram it down their throat. That doesn’t mean that people are not interested in your latest widget or special offer, it is just a matter of thinking about how you get it across. Imagine you go out for dinner with a friend and they tell you about a great deal they have just got on some flights. You are interested. You want to know. You might even take up the same deal, but that is not the 1st thing that your friend told you about, and is only a small part of the conversation. This is how your social media should be. I have heard many pet store owners complain that online retailers have taken a lot of their trade. One way you can get it back is by using Google AdWords.
Adwords are the sponsored ads that come up at the side of the web page when you search for a product on google. Below is a picture of what comes up when you search for ‘pooch and mutt’. As you can see, the top 3 results and the 3 results on the right are in a section called ads. These ads are paid-for ‘AdWords’ ads. However you don’t pay for them to show, you only pay if someone actually clicks on the ad, which makes them extremely cost effective if done well.

As network speeds get quicker and more and more people have smartphones with ever-increasing capabilities the popularity of online video is growing. One simple reason is that it is so much quicker and easier to watch a quick video than it is to read an article.
You Tube (owned by google) is the world’s 2nd largest search engine. Meaning that after google it is the 2nd most popular place for people to look for answers to their online search queries.
